Mary C. Sparks was born in Lincoln, Logan County, Illinois, March 8, 1843. She passed from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.B. Skinner, with whom she had made her home for several months, July 17, 1915, at 11:00 at the good, ripe age of 72 years, four months and nine days. On November 3, 1864, at the place of her birth, she was married to G.S. Douglas. To this union were born four children. Her husband died thirty-three years ago. She came to Kansas settling near Delphos. Her children married and established homes for themselves. For a number of years she has made her home with her daughters in Kansas and Oklahoma. She leaves to mourn the loss of a loving mother and grandmother one son, Lee Douglas, of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Will Jennings, of Simpson; Mrs. W.B. Skinner, of Delphos; Mrs. Laura Hull, of Thomas, Okla., sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, with many friends. Her funeral took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Skinner four and one-half miles west of Delphos, July 18, at 3:00 o'clock, conducted by G.S. Smith. Interment at the Delphos Cemetery.
