Mrs. Minnie Higgins, 86, a. resident of Wichita for the past 76 years, died Friday afternoon in a local hospital after an illness of several years.
Mrs. Higgins was born in 1861, in Hogansburg, N.Y., and came to Kansas from there in 1871 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John St. Dennis. In 1872, they homesteaded three miles west of Andover. In 1882, she was married to James Higgins, who was
employed by the post office for 30 years. At the time of his death in 1914 he was superintendent in mails.
Mrs. Higgins is survived by three sons, Maurice, 1901 South Hillside, George, St. Louis, Mo., Terrence, 1350 South Terrace Drive; one daughter, Mrs. Rue M. Irving, 517 North Hydraulic; one brother, Thomas B. St. Dennis, 241 Ellis; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. 'Anthony's Catholic church. Recitation of the rosary will be Sunday evening at 8 o'clock in the Lahey mortuary chapel. Funeral services will be announced by the Lahey mortuary.
