Ora Mae Collins, 90 of Luling, passed away February 1, 2001. She was born on October 5, 1910 to William Lee and Texanna Burrows Stacy in San Antonio.

Ora Mae grew up on a farm near Poteet where she attended Gates Valley School. She married Emmett Collins on October 28, 1929 and had two children, Marjorie Ann and Harold Wayne. Ora Mae was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Luling for over 50 years. Before retiring, Ora Mae worked at the Luling Green Cross and Edgar B. Davis Hospitals as a practical nurse and also as a private in-home nurse in later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, two sisters and two brothers. Ora Mae is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Ann Whitley and husband Chester "Bubba" of Kingsbury; three grandchildren, Susan Whitley of San Antonio, Bruce Whitley and wife Glenda of Floresville and Dianna Alexander and husband Benny of Luling; five great-grandchildren, Jason and Andra Alexander of Luling and Jeffrey, Scott and Reid Whitley of Floresville; a sister, Lorene Bruce of Luling; a brother, Ira Lee "Boots" Stacey and wife Frances Mae of Kearney, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Louetta Stacey of London, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral services were officiated by Brother Haskell Lunsford and Brother Charles Petty. Interment followed in Luling City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bruce Whitley, Benny Alexander, Jason Alexander and Max Hanners.
