He was born in Clay City Jan. 1, 1920 to Jesse and Emma Warren Stanford. He married Maxine Shields Dec. 10, 1955 in Mt. Vernon.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Nita Marie Stanford, at home; and Mrs, Gary (Nancy) Pearce, Flora; two sons, Stephen Wayne Wiley, Clay City, and David Lee, at home; brothers,
Clydean, Las Cruces, N.M. and Vancil, Douglas, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, south of Clay City, and was a veteran of World War II.
Services will be at the Cadascio Funeral Home, Clay City. Burial will be in Zion cemetery, rural Clay City.
The Rev. Sherrill Leckrone will officiate. There will be full military rites at the grave site.
