Peggy was born on June 23, 1931 in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of Thurman Francis and Kathryn Marie Schaub Staudt, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2013 in Enid. After Pearl Harbor was bombed in 1941, Peggy's father, Mr. Staudt was re commissioned as a Captain into the Air Corp and was sent to various bases in San Antonio, Texas, where the family lived until Captain Staudt was transferred to Enid Air Field. Peggy attended the Enid School System, graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1948. She married James Royce Kelly on August 2, 1948 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where Peggy was a member of the Choir. Royce and Peggy lived on the family farm near Hunter where they raised their three children until the early "70‘s" when they moved to Aurora, Colorado, living there until 1985. With their children grown and on their own, Royce and Peggy then traveled in their motor home before settling in Enid in 1990. Peggy was a member of First United Methodist Church, was a seamstress, artist, sculptor and writer. She wrote the "Women's Page" for the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association magazine and a book titled, "Notes From An Oklahoma Farm Home". Peggy is survived by her three children, Jim and wife Sherry of Enid, Bob and wife Karen of Frederick, Colorado; Kathy Dainels of Enid; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mickie Hogan of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Nancy Hettler of Loveland, Colorado, and Patt Mullen and husband Jim of Colorado Springs, Colorado, plus many nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in passing by her husband, Royce, on October 4, 2000, and two sisters, Betty Long and Dorothy Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family has selected Relay For Life through Dexeus Oncology, as appropriate for memorial donations.
