Mrs. Herman J. Leifeste, 82, nee Rose Regina Staudt, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Tony Vilano officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Weinheimer was the organist and Annette Whittington, the vocalist. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Prior to the services her body lay in state in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home where a vigil service, conducted by Deacon Louis Loth, was held at 7 p.m., Sunday.
Mrs. Leifeste was born Oct. 6, 1920 in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Gregor and Anna Jordan Staudt. She married Herman J. Leifeste on Dec. 28, 1938 in Fredericksburg and he preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1973.
Mrs. Leifeste was a florist at Pehls Flower Shop.
She is survived by three brothers and a sister, Clemens Staudt and his wife, Marina, of Fredericksburg; Milton Staudt and his wife, Elaine, of El Paso; Melvin Staudt of Fredericksburg, and Gertrude Jost of San Angelo.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Leifeste was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church or to Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
Pallbearers were Joe Keller, Clifford Staudt, Carlos Staudt, Marion L. Slaton, Thomas E. Staudt and John Rowley.
