Guilford Steele, 82, of Niagara Falls, passed away, quietly, January 27, 2012, under the care of his loving wife, Classie, family and Niagara Hospice. Guilford was born July 8, 1929 in Pekin, NC, the son of the late Theo and Dilcie (Robinson) Steele Harris.
He relocated to Niagara Falls and had former employment with Martin Blacktop, Airco Speer and Allied Chemical. Mr. Steele was an avid sports fan and was well-known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed bowling, traveling and telling funny jokes with a straight face.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Classie (Martin) Steele; five sons, Guilford T. (Rosie) Steele, Boling Brook, IL, James (Nita) Steele, Shreveport, LA, Robert Martin,Vincent Martin and Joy Martin, all of Niagara Falls; three daughters, Jackie (Rev. Arthur) Todd, Niagara Falls, Marie Obiekwe, Fayetteville, NC, and Paulette Martin Carter, New York City; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Franklin D. Martin and a host of other relatives and friends, including Porter C. Owens and Robert "Bob" Simpson. He was predeceased by sisters, Bernice Steele, Beatrice Davis and Blanche Steed; grandson, Eric Steele.
