MRS. CARRIE BELL AT 93; COUNTY JUDGE'S WIDOW

HERKIMER—Mrs. Carrie Steele Bell, 93, widow of County Judge Charles Bell, died Feb. 18, 1957, in her home, 306 Prospect. She was born Aug. 9, 1864, in Fort Herkimer, daughter of Jermiah and Mary Edick Steele. She attended Herkimer schools and was graduated from Clinton Liberal Institute, Fort Plain.
She was married to Judge Bell May 19, 1886, in Fort Herkimer and they came to Herkimer the following year. He served as county judge and surrogate from 1913 to 1929. He died in March, 1941.
Mrs. Bell was a member of the Universalist Church, the AUW [Association of Universalist Women] of the church. She had been a member of General Herkimer Chapter, DAR, for more than 60 years and also a member of Myrtle Chapter, OES.
She leaves a daughter. Miss Kathlyn Bell, Herkimer and several cousins.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 Saturday in the home with the Rev. Thomas Y. Tyrell, pastor of the Universalist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
