Ruth Emma (Steinhauser) Bahnsen, 97, of Huron, passed away June 13, 2014, in Providence Care Centers after a brief illness.

Ruth was born May 14, 1917, in Clyde, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Scherer) Steinhauser.

Ruth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Pam Huntington, of Huron, Marsha Leal and Merita (Bob) Wright, both of Sandusky; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Bahnsen, in 1981,whom she married June 8, 1946; her parents; and a brother, Franklin Steinhauser.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev.Joe Steinbauer will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
