Doris Rita "Dee Dee" Drost Stine, 89, of Sulphur, passed away on April 30, 2011 in her residence, surrounded by her family. Dee Dee, an only child, lovingly raised her six sons and one daughter with the help of J. W., her husband of 67 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Jane Drost. She is survived by her husband, J.W.; daughter Janie Stine LaCroix and husband, Shelby, of Clearlake, TX.; her six sons, Dick and wife, Mary, of Lake Charles, Gary and wife, Vickie, of Sulphur, Jay and wife, Wanda, of DeRidder, Dennis and wife, Marla, of Lake Charles, David and wife, Kim, of Lake Charles and Timothy and wife, Jane, of Sulphur; 31 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Dee Dee was a devoted wife to her husband for 67 years, spending her time raising her children while J.W. built the family business, Stine Lumber Company. The couple traveled the world and always brought gifts that commemorated their trips to her family.

She believed God's work was to raise her family and to support them so that they would become productive citizens in the community. She was very proud of her six sons who helped build the family business with her husband, J.W., and all remain in the business today. She was equally proud of her daughter, Janie, who has become an accomplished sculptor, creating many works of art that grace the Lake area today.

Dee Dee graduated from Sulphur High School as salutatorian and was a member of the first class of McNeese Junior College, serving on the first cheerleading squad, as secretary of the first graduating class, and also as the first class favorite. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and also The Catholic Daughters in Sulphur and was a strong believer in her Catholic heritage.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Robison Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur with a scripture service and rosary at 7p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at noon. The funeral service will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Dutch Cove Cemetery under the direction of Robison Funeral Home.
