To Mrs. Nancy Strode, Deceased.

Oh! valued friend, loved wife and cherished mother, called from life's mission to the reward and rest beyond the skies; we know that earth's loss is heaven's gain, yet in bidding thee farewell we mourn in sorrow over one so loved and weep in anguish over so great a loss. Though we were gifted with the tongue of angels our words would be but mockery in paying tribute to thy name. Yet a life so fair and just as thine has been will ever be a living monument to thy memory. Well may thy dutiful children exclaim in sighs: Oh cherished name of mother thy loss is the saddest of our lives and one that earth can never repay. Through thy form sleeps within the tomb, thy memory and parting prayers shall nev-be forgotten, and through the scenes of after life fond hopes will spring and ever live till we meet again on the sunny banks of the sweet beyond.

To a lamenting husband all the future seems but a blank, without the nearest of life's companions. Happiness is turned to grief and all is gone save the remembrance of a spotless life and a hope beyond the grave. But those, two of the souls most precious jewels, are all that's needed to arouse his dying hopes to life again, leading onward to a noble life and thus follow thy way up the golden stair.

Thy friends, which all the world include that ever knew thy life, have cause to mourn over the loss of one—the trust pilgrims on lifes journey.

Tis human for to mourn over the death of one that our heart held dear, yet sorrow is lessoned when we think that by pure lives we shall meet again at the golden gate ne'er to be parted in that realm beyond the reign of time where scalding tears do never flow and hearts are never broken.
