Lydia McBee, 82, Joplin, died Monday, March 17, 2008, in Blue Springs, Mo., following a lengthy illness. She was born June 3, 1925, in Fairview, Mo., to Arthur Stroud and Blanche (Clary) Stroud. Mrs. McBee was a homemaker. When she was young, she worked for the phone company and drug stores in Neosho. She married James H. McBee Sr. March 15, 1946, in Columbus, Kan. He preceded her in death June 19, 1998. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James H. McBee Jr and Debbie McBee, Tiff City, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Michael Bailey, Independence, Mo.; four granddaughters, Melissa Grega, Michelle Schulze, Amy McBee and Jamie McBee; two great-grandchildren, Brett Grega and Grace Schulze; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Irl Stroud; and two sisters, Margie Dunovan and Loriee Carnes. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 21, at Clark Chapel of Memories with John St. Clair officiating. Burial will follow in Hazel Green Cemetery, Boulder City. Serving as pallbearers will be David Hardesty, Richard Huston, Rex McCool, Kenny Whitehill, Cecil Vance and Ken Pierce. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, Mo., 64850. Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
