Sallie Watkins (Taylor) Olinger was born on March 13, 1869 in White Bluff, Tennessee, the daughter of William Henry "Buck" Taylor (1836–1887) and Mary Elizabeth (Richardson) Taylor (1844–1919).

She was married on November 11, 1888 in Nashville to Charles Olinger (1865-1950), the son of Johnston R Olinger and Mary J (Martin) Olinger.

Living near Donelson on Elm Hill Road, Nashville, Rural Route 1, Sallie was 70 years old and married when she died at home on May 7, 1939 of angina pectoris. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery at Madison [city, not county].
