Evelyn Inez (Taylor) Anderson, 84, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Evelyn was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on September 12, 1933, the daughter of the late Oral Broaddus Cottrill and Flossye Regal (Thompson) Cottrill.

She worked at various places during her lifetime including WVU, Fort Martin and Harrison County Power Plants, Boeing Company (during the construction of the PRT in Morgantown), as well as, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Florida, from which she then retired. She was a member Forest Hill Alliance Church of Florida and Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Morgantown.

Evelyn experienced her “once in a lifetime travel”, along with her husband, to the Holy Land, at which time they got baptized in the Jordan River. They went on to travel to various parts of the world. Her hobbies include her passion of playing Bridge and Bingo. Besides loving to eat out at restaurants, her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and their families. She also never met a stranger and loved to converse with anyone she came across.

Evelyn was a member of the Senior Monongalians in Morgantown (Bridge Group), a hospital volunteer at Palm Beach Gardens Hospital and Monongalia General Hospital during her lifetime.

She is survived by her children: Roxanne Sterling, J. Russell Taylor and wife Viktoriya, Rosanna Clise and husband Dave, Carolyn Taylor, and Kathleen Huffman and husband Ron; grandchildren: Ryan and Mark Sterling, David and Adam Clise and Vlad Taylor, Jessica Rogers, Amanda Farber and Alexis Danielle; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Emma Louise Shahan and Barbara Cottrill; special nephew, Charles Henry Tilton; special friends, Billie Leach, Billy Morel, Robert Santee, and Chuck Myden; all her dear friends from her Bridge Clubs; and all of her loving friends and neighbors from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Vernon G. Anderson; sisters, Maxine Borquist, Jean Flint and Oneita Tilton and brothers, O.B. and Robert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WVU Cancer Institute, Office of Philanthropy, P.O. Box 9300, Morgantown, WV 26506. Please make checks payable to WVU Foundation Inc. and include Evelyn’s name.

In accordance with her wishes, Hastings Funeral Home has provided cremation services. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be publically announced at the time.
