George H. Taylor, 74, of Phillipsburg, N.J., died Thursday, Sept. 1, in his home. He was the husband of Jane (Schipps) Taylor.

Born on July 10, 1931, in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Norman and Alma (Lippa) Taylor.

He was employed as a welder with Atlantic States before his retirement. Prior to that, he worked at Alpha-Portland Cement Plant.

George served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Bangor High School.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, where he was a fan of Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was also a fan of the N.Y. Giants football team.

He was a member of Bernadine May Post 457, Phillipsburg, N.J.; life member of Jersey Hose Company, Phillipsburg, N.J., where he was an exempt fireman; N.J. State Fireman's Association; and former member of Phillipsburg Emergency Squad.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John of Phillipsburg, N.J., and William of Salida, Calif.; one daughter, Mary Ann Krum of Saylorsburg; one sister, Elizabeth Harwi of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Norman; and one great-granddaughter.
