He was born in Greenville, ME, son of the late Orman and Rosamond (Smith) Templeton. He graduated in 1944 from Greenville High school and was active in the Greenville alumni reunion each year at Moosehead Lake in Maine. Larry served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater serving aboard the USS Topeka and the USS Wisconsin. He was employed for 21 years with the engineering firm of van Zelm, Heywood and Shadford, Inc. in Farmington and retired in 1991 from Pratt & Whitney (UTC) as Senior Facilities Engineer in the facilities engineering and design department. He was a direct descendant of the Mayflower on his mother's side and enjoyed researching the genealogy of the Templeton family. He also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, especially in Maine.
He leaves a son, Michael E. Templeton and his wife Tracey and a grandson, Brandon Michael Templeton all of Windsor Locks; a niece, Iris M. Orlinski of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; a sister Gail and husband Robert Kohler of Jupiter, FL; and two nephews, Steven and Jonathan Kohler both of Georgia. Besides his wife, Iris, he was predeceased by a son, David L. Templeton.
The Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, with the Rev. Eugene Mitchell officiating.
Burial will be in Palisado Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded.
His Family will receive Friends on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday prior to the services from 10-11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
