Elizabeth Armitage was the first burial in the cemetery for which there is an authentic record. She and her husband Benjamin Armitage Junior were two of the original 70 persons who signed the covenant in 1714 which established the church.

Elizabeth was the mother Mary of Armitage, James Armitage, Benjamin Armitage III, Enoch Armitage, and Martha Armitage.

After she died, Benjamin remarried.
