Born on September 12, 1928 in Elizabeth, NJ to Charles and Caroline Mary (Smith) Thomas, she resided in South River, NJ for the last 50 years. She was united in marriage to William F. Conger of Newark, NJ on June 17, 1951. She was recently honored along with her husband at a 60th Wedding Anniversary party by her family.
Anna Conger was a devout communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church in Old Bridge and a true woman of faith. She devoted her life to raising and nurturing her family of nine children, a job from which she never retired. In addition, Anna worked at various jobs at the Prudential Insurance Company, J.C. Penny's, Halston Fragrances and Sam's Club at various times in her life. She was an avid reader, traveler, photographer, crochet artist, animal lover, amateur psychologist, story teller and observer of all details.
She was predeceased by her brother Charles Thomas in 1966.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, William Francis; 5 sons: William and his wife Bailey of Cook, MN ; Thomas and his wife Mi Jung of Ft. Rucker, AL; Michael of Robbinsville; John and his wife Michelle of Berthoud, CO and James of Sedalia, MO; 4 daughters: Carol Conger of South River, Virginia Werner and her husband Frank of Helmetta, Kathy Lynch of Sayreville, and Patti Jolly and her husband Chuck of Union Beach; 9 grandchildren, Sara, Mary, Liam, Liz, Carrie, Casey, Emilie, Corey and Seamus; and 3 great grandchildren, William, Aubrey and Alanna. The Conger house was always open and numerous people were considered as part of the family and deserving of Anna's guidance and concern.
Interment will follow at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
