Kelso Carthell "Red" Thompson was born July 11, 1924 near McAlester, Oklahoma and passed away July 3, 2009 at his home in Corte Madera, California, where he had lived for since 1945. He was the oldest child of Paul and Lillian (Cobb) Thompson.

"Red" worked as a carpenter, building homes in Marin county prior to the 37½ years that he worked for APL. He retired in 1989.
He was a decorated WWII vet, with the 83rd Chemical Mortar Battalion from 1943-1945.
He was Master of Fairfax Masonic Lodge #556 in 1967.
He joined the Shrine in 1972.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62½ years, Joyce; two daughters, Jeannie Tompkins (Jeff Pardi) and Janet Smith (husband Scott); seven granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kermit Cardell Thompson (wife Marilyn) of Greenville, South Carolina and Doris Allen Thompson (wife Shirley) of McAlester, Oklahoma; one sister, Dorothy Ann Thompson Adams (husband Coy) of McAlester, Oklahoma; and two cousins, Royce Thompson (wife Barbara) of Elk City, Oklahoma and Gary Thompson (wife Sharon) of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Services will be on July 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 1122 Magnolia Ave., Larkspur, CA.
