Daniel Martin Thompson, 53, senior group supervisor at Marin County Juvenile Hall for almost 6 years, died suddenly this morning at his Woodacre home, apparently from a heart attack.

He lived with his wife Amelba K. Thompson at 47 Taylor Drive in Woodacre. Coroner Frank J. Keaton said Mrs. Thompson had already left for work this morning when Thompson was stricken in the bathroom.

Thompson's son, Richard Thompson of Fairfax, found his father lying on the floor, fully dressed, about 8:30 this morning. An autopsy was to be performed today. Funeral arrangements are pending at Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.

Probation Officer Walter H. Busher said Thompson joined the probation office on January 2, 1957, and was the oldest member of the juvenile hall staff in years of service. "He was extremely well liked by the children, and was receptive to the best practices in the field. His loss will be hard to replace", said Busher.
