Died
THOMPSON - At Byron Springs, CA, March 20, 1908, Archibald B. Thompson, beloved husband of Emily M. Thompson, a native of Scotland, aged 61 years, 2 months, and 8 days.

August 2, 1885, Archibald B. Thompson, a commercial traveler for Murphy, Grant & Co., decided to settle in San Rafael for his health, as long as constant service in the dry goods business, of which he was an adept, had so undermined his constitution that he deemed this step necessary, and although he had transacted business for the firm he represented in 50 or more towns in the State. San Rafael was his choice for a home and here he settled with his family and started in business for himself at the corner of Fourth and C Streets in the building formerly occupied by Don T. Murphy, and afterwards by Don Antonio Osio,.

Mr. Thompson was successful in business, as he was a strictly honorable and reliable man, whose word was as good as a bank note. He never misrepresented anything in any way. By some he was thought peculiar, and so he was. But his peculiarity was born of intense business education of the strictest integrity, with the "Golden Rule", always in view. Business with Mr. Thompson was a worship, and he had little time for affairs, and his persistent advertising of that business, his store prospered and became one of the institution of San Rafael.

For a year past Mr. Thompson was physically unfit for work. But he stuck to his ledger at the store week after week when he should have been outside. Since Christmas, however, he has been little at the store, and a few weeks ago left the store entirely and remained at home. Hoping to get relief he went to Byron Hot Springs where he passed away as above stated.

Deceased leaves a faithful wife, who has been the business head for some time, and 4 children, 3 boys and a girl, to whom the sympathies of the public are extended.

The business will be continued by Mrs. Thompson and her 2 sons.
