Rhoda Marie Ashley of Prineville died Dec. 30, 2001 at a local foster care home. She was 86 years old.

She was born Dec. 8, 1915 in Wakhon, Minn., to Charles and Alma (Lentz) Tierney. She graduated from high school in Clarkston, Wash., and later completed nursing school, becoming a registered nurse.

She moved to Prineville in the early 1940's and married Amos Doyle Ashley in 1942.

Mrs. Ashley worked as a registered nurse at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. She also worked for Dr.'s Adkisson and Thomas and was administrator at the Ochoco Care Center until retiring.

She was a member of the Lady Elks, a Campfire leader and was active in the PTA. She enjoyed bowling, playing Pinochle and rockhounding.

Survivors include her daughter, Gen Anderson of Hillsboro; sister, Marjorie Cleary; granddaughter, Misty Anderson of Aloha; Greg Anderson of Madras; special friends Judy and Richard Caudle of Prineville and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Pioneer Memorial Hospice.

Funeral services were scheduled for today. Whispering Pines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
