EASTON, Conn. - Marcia Tierney Salko of Easton died July 3. She was 71.
Salko was born March 24, 1942, to William and Irene Tierney. She grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Andrew Warde High School in 1959. She attended the College of New Rochelle and Southern Connecticut State University where she obtained her teaching degree in 1963. She spent the first part of her career in teaching and then became a social worker, ultimately serving as the director of Social Services for the Town of Fairfield for over 10 years.
Salko is survived by her children, Jonathan, David and Clinton Salko all of Fairfield, Sheila (Joseph) Peddle of Trumbull, Caitlin (Patrick) Bosse of Fairfield and Stacey (Scott) Cirillo of Mendham, N.J; eight grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Buchanan of Fairfield. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Susan Ware; and brother, William Tierney III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. directly at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive in Fairfield. Interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
