The funeral of Mrs. Anna E. Tierney, wife of Police Captain James A. Tierney, was held yesterday morning from her home, 247 South Main street. A requiem high mass at Holy Trinity church followed, the Rev. Vincent Bodnar officiating. It was one of the largest funerals held at the church in some time, with many out of town persons in attendance. As the floral draped casket was borne into the church, members of the police department formed a guard of honor. Miss Gertrude M. Kane played "Lead Kindly Light" with John Harrington as soloist. A hymn was played at the offertory and at the conclusion of mass. Miss Kane sang "Just A Little Nearer." For the recessional, "Abide With Me" was played. Burial was in St. John's cemetery, where committal services were conducted by the Rev. John J. Delaney. The bearers were Warden John P. Bridgett, Police Chief George C. Abbott, Patrolman Dennis McMahon, Building Inspector Frank J. Norton, John J. Robinson and Owen H. Morgan, all of this town.
