Nancy Ann Tilbury was born April 6, 1848 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At The age of five years old, she moved to Linn County, Iowa, and was married to Ira Knapp on December 23, 1866 in Benton County, Iowa, where they lived until 1884, when they moved to Keya Paha County, Nebraska where they homesteaded.
Nancy Knapp departed this life February 15, 1932, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 9 days. To this union five children were born, one, Lila, dying in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1914. The four are Mary Kauth of Los Angeles; Lewis Andrew Knapp, Mills, Nebraska; Lennie Leota Sellman of Keota, Iowa, and Mrs. Will (Mabel) Chapins of Omaha, Nebraska, where she made her home for the past 17 years. Twenty-three grandchildren are left to mourn her death.
