Mary Maxine ( Miller ) Voorhees, 74, passed away March 28, 2013 at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, Mo. Maxine was born August 25, 1938 to John Towner and Pearl (Brown) Towner in Van Buren, Mo. She was a homemaker. Maxine attended First Christian Church in Carthage. Survivors include one son Keith Reed and wife Donna of Neosho, Mo; three daughters Kay Courtright of Joplin, Karen Ford of Carthage, and Kayle Reed of Pittsburg, Kansas. One brother Paul Towner of Farmington, Mo; two sisters Shirley Sansone and Sally Hieke both of St. Louis, Mo; four grandchildren David Reed, Nick Reed, Travis Jackson and Michelle Chaney; 14 great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, three brothers John Towner, James Towner, and Jimmy Towner, three sisters Evelyn Sickinger, Edna Steel, and Ella Scott. Services will be held at 2:00p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Ulmer Funeral Home.
