Doris Uldene Ballard Age 91, originally from Charlotte, passed away in Plano, TX August 30, 2012. Doris was born August 20, 1921 in Springport. Her parents were Claude and Stella Towns. She was the 9th child of 10 children. Doris graduated from Jackson Business College and worked as a legal secretary. On June 16, 1946 she was wed to Robert Ballard, of Jackson. Doris loved anything social and was actively involved in many clubs and organizations. She enjoyed playing golf. She continued playing golf until she was almost 91. Doris was a Past Matron of Maple City Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Charlotte and was a bridge teacher in the Community Ed program. She loved giving of herself to others, and regularly delivered Meals on Wheels. When Robert retired, they moved to Sun City Center, FL, where they enjoyed their final years of life. In January, 2012 Doris moved to Plano, TX to be near her daughters. Doris was a dedicated, loving and devoted wife and mother. Robert, her husband of 64 years, passed away November 13, 2010. Doris is survived by daughters, Karen (Steve) Piro and Linda (James) Bird of Plano, TX, and son Clark (Deb) Ballard of Mason; four grandchildren, Allison (Piro) Fuller, Blake Piro and Alex Bird of Plano, and Sarah Bird of Berkeley, CA; her sister Inez Walworth of Jackson, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chapel at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano, TX, on Sunday, Nov. 25th at 3:00p.m. Donations in Doris's memory can be made to The American Heart Association; Hospice http://hospicecare.com/donate ; or The Mary Kay Foundation, P.O.
