She ran a local grocery store in Roopville "Dean Grocery" as well as raising cattle and chickens. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and Roopville Baptist Church. She had four children, Vivian Rebecca Dean Merrill, Linda Arlene Dean Elkins, Steven George Dean, and Beverly Elaine Dean Kruse and 8 grandchildren. She love to read and study her Bible. She enjoyed nature and loved animals. One hobby was "playing in the dirt" planting beautiful vegetables and flower gardens. Dora was named for her Grandmother Dora Wood Stallings of Roopville.
