CASCADE, Iowa -- Roger J. Tucker, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at Mercy Hospice House, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at St. Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines. Burial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Dunn's Funeral Home, 2121 Grand Ave., Des Moines, where there will be a 4 p.m. vigil service.

He was born on April 26, 1947, in Cascade, son of loving parents, Roger L. and Romilda (Milly).

Roger loved his country and was proud to have served as a Marine in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 528 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He felt privileged to help other veterans by volunteering as a shuttle driver and greeter at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He recently became a member of the newly formed Knights of Columbus Council at St. Ambrose Cathedral.

Roger spent his career as a sales professional in the automotive industry. He especially enjoyed his work selling medium duty trucks.

Roger enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite pastimes included vacationing in Minnesota, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Hawkeyes fan. Roger was a loving and supportive husband, father, brother and friend.

Surviving are his wife, Marjean; their three children, Wendy (Mike) Barry, of Denver, Tara, of Waukee and Ryan (Cynthia) of Lenexa, Kan.; his sisters, Rebecca (Mark) Holub and Renee (Bob) Hoppenjan; and grandchildren, John, Emma and Cate Barry, Hannah Tucker and Dylan Tucker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Terry.
