Earlene was born on May 28, 1922, in Nashua, Iowa, the daughter of William and Minnie (Moine) Tucker. On December 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Gordon Card in Palmyra, Missouri. Earlene lived in 16 different cities the first 24 years of her married life because of her husband's corporate job and his service in W.W. II and the Korean Conflict. The majority of the last 40 years of her life were spent on their farm in Plainfield, Iowa. The couple lived in Cedar Falls the past 18 months.
Earlene was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, Bremer County Farm Bureau, Plainfield American Legion Auxiliary, and the Cattlewomen's Association.
Earlene is survived by her husband, Gordon of Cedar Falls; one daughter and her spouse, Kathy & Jim Breckunitch of Waterloo, Iowa; one grandson and his spouse, Troy & Natascha Breckunitch of Frankenthal, Germany; one granddaughter and her spouse, Joey & Nick Podhajsky of Traer, Iowa; and a great grandson, Jamie Breckunitch of Frankenthal, Germany.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 11, 2003, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly with Rev. Tony R. Nester officiating. Burial will be in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Trinity United Methodist Church.
