BJ was born and raised in Des Moines and attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is survived by her husband, , Bruce, her three daughters, Katie Sobolik, Julie Doyle and Amy Colton and eight adoring grandchildren.
A devoted wife, mother and friend, BJ will be missed for her tremendous spirit, sense of humor and grace. An active member of the Junior League and PEO, BJ enjoyed winters in Rio Verde, Arizona, entertaining friends and spending time with her family. She was known for her quick wit, great cooking and ability to find fun in any situation.
