Hazel was born March 24, 1921, in Geary County, Kansas the daughter of Pete and Ellen (Olson) Turnbull.
Hazel worked as a daycare provider for many years in Junction City. She was a homemaker. She is a former member of the Eagles Lodge.
She married Theodore "Ted" Vermillion Barefield. He passed away November 12, 1972.
Survivors include one son, John C. Barefield of Flagstaff, Az. and one daughter, Linda Larocque of Junction City, Ks. one sister, Marcella Hermstein of Herington, Ks. Other survivors include four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, one son, Michael Barefield, one daughter, Juanita Barefield, two brothers and one sister. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Tonia Marie Spaulding.
