Patricia Ann Allen, 77, of Spiceland, passed away in New Castle at 5:20 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2012.

Patty was born in Richmond on December 28, 1934 to Herschel D. Sr. and Frances (Winters) Vail. Patty married Gene P. Allen on August 3, 1953 and he survives.

She was a 1953 graduate of Laurel High School, spending her early life in Franklin County. She and her husband Gene lived in Dunreith from 1957 until moving to Spiceland in 1997.

She worked in Spiceland at Draper-Shade & Screen for nearly 23 years. Patty also enjoyed making wedding cakes and flower arrangements in her spare time. She attended the Sugar Grove Methodist Church. She was the band club president for the former Tennessean Band.

In addition to her husband Gene, of Spiceland, Patty is survived by sons, Gene Jr. Allen & wife Carol of Alva, FL and Jerry Lee Allen & wife Linda of Rushville, a daughter, Kimberly Hayworth of Lewisville, brothers, Harry "Bud" and Donnie & wife Teressa Vail both of Laurel, sisters, Judy & husband Tony Hauntz of Syracuse, Gloria Linville of Sexton, Cindy & husband Don Ash of Orange, Susie & husband Larry Dice of Rushville, Beverly Fromm of Tuscon, AZ, Debbie & husband Roy Grizzell and Francie & husband Mark Isaacs both of Laurel, grandchildren, David Jr. & wife Teri McCune, Kenny Hayworth, Daniel Howard, Trisha & husband Sam Hodges, Paige & Aaron Allen and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by brothers, Kenny Wayne, Herschel Jr and infant brother Ronnie.

Services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, January 12 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 10 AM until time of service. Pastor Randy Edwards will preside and burial will be in the Orange Cemetery in Fayette County.
