Norma Lee (Kriner) Vail was born in DuBois, Pa. as the daughter of Eugene Erle and Florence Eliza (Lenkerd) Kriner.

Norma graduated in 1951 from Mount Vernon (Ohio) Academy. She attended Washington Missionary College. She graduated in 1955 from Columbia Union College (formerly Washington Missionary College) at Takoma Park, Md., with a bachelor of science in nursing.

She married Wayne Royce Vail on Aug. 21, 1955, and they spent 30 years as workers with the Seventh-day Adventist organization. The couple retired Jan. 31, 2000, to Vancouver, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her father.
