Donald B. Vail passed away on January 28, 2008, in his home, after battling several different ailments. He was surrounded by his daughters and the love of family and friends. He was a graduate of Wenatchee High School, Class of 1958. He entered the Navy in March 27, 1959; he served four years of active duty and was in the reserves for two years after his discharge. He worked for his father, Jay N. Vail, who founded J.N. Vail Roofing. He became co-owner of that company when his father retired. He continued with that business until he retired. He was in several special interest groups and committees throughout the years in the Wenatchee Valley. He was an avid JC member and on a special drug task force in the 70's. He was a loving and caring father for his three children. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and treasured spending time with them. He enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Chelan. He spent six months of the year in the Wenatchee Valley and six months at Desert Hot Springs, CA, at Almar Acres. He had so many loving friends at Almar Acres, who took such great care of him and his late wife, the last year especially. When family was not present, they became his family. We especially want to thank them for all they did the last year for them, while their health was declining. He raced cars, snowmobiles and motor bikes. He loved golfing, fishing, traveling, friends and spending time with family. He really looked forward to attending his family reunion each year. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 26 years, Judith Alla Vail; his brother, Kent W. Vail; his mother, Bernice; and father, Jay N. Vail. He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Roy) Vail-Rivera of Wenatchee, Pennie (Paul) Robinson of Cashmere and Shirley Scott of Vancouver, WA; and son, Larry (Crystal) Scott of Moses Lake. He had 13 grandchildren, Kali, Kameron, Chad, Gary, Greg, Kayla, Toni, Lindsay, Jared, David, Christina, Stephanie and Kyle; and five great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary J. (Nancy) Vail; and nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Long and his caregiver, Cloyd Robins, who did such a wonderful job and without his care and support, would not have lived this long. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 4, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee. In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wenatchee Humane Society or the Veteran's Association. Arrangements by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
