Mrs. Sue B. Barrs died Monday, June 15, 1998 at Dorminy Medical Center. She was 77.
Mrs. Barrs was born July 13, 1920 in Clinton, N. C., the daughter of James and Colon Vann. She lived in
Ocilla since 1991, moving from Jensen Beach, FLA., She was a former resident of Miami, Fla... Mrs. Barrs was a former employee of Miami-Dade Jr. College; Sears, Roebuck and Co., and Shaw Brothers Pure Oil Company. She was a member of the Ocilla Garden Club and also a very active volunteer and member of Ocilla United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Vann.
Survivors include her husband, Coy Barrs of Ocilla; two brothers, Beamon Vann, Sr., of Clinton, N. C., Jimmy Van of Roseboro, N. C.; two sisters: Iula Taylor of Roseboro, N. C., and Katie Faircloth of Clinton, N. C.; one stepson, Don Barrs of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services were held on Thursday, June 18, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Ocilla United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. Music was provided by Jean Dent, organist and Irma Young soloist.
Pallbearers were Eugene Hudson, Hanson Hudson, Jerry Barrs, Bobby Dix, Newt Hudson and Emerson King. Honorary pallbearers were J. W. Hudson and W. F. Hudson.
Interment was held at Frank Cemetery in Irwin County, Ga. And Paulk Funeral Home of Ocilla was in charge of arrangements.
