Vivian E. Brill, of Chatham, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at King James Care Center, Chatham. She was 85. Born in Milltown, she lived in Colonia before moving to Chatham eight years ago. She worked for the Woodbridge Township Board of Education, assigning substitute teachers to the township schools for 32 years before retiring in 1998. She was also a talented ceramics teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of the St. John Vianney's Altar Rosary Society, Colonia and had also served as a CCD teacher for the church.
Her husband, Robert R. Brill Sr., died in 2001. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rosalie Czubak; and brother, Parley Van Buskirk. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. Brill Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Sparta; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debby Prater and her husband Randy of Austin, Texas, Diane Reid and her husband Joseph A. Reid III of Basking Ridge, and Donna Morgan of Manchester, Conn.; a sister, Dolores Penny of Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren, Whitney Anne Reid of Richmond, Va., and Joseph Alson Reid IV of Rochester, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 19 at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Helena's Church, Edison. Entombment to follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.
