Memorial services for Geraldine "Gerry" (Van Orsdale) Boyles, 85, of Claridon Township, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (on St. Rt. 44, 500 ft. south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
Mrs. Boyles died Feb. 12, 2006, at University Hospital of Cleveland.
Born Feb. 10, 1921, in Cleveland, she lived in Sylvania, Ohio from 1967 until moving to Claridon Township in 2005.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Nurse Corp during World War II. She was a volunteer for the Toledo Hospital Gift Shoppe for many years. She also delivered Mobile Meals in the Toledo area. She was an active member of the Sylvania United Church of Christ where she prepared and served lunch to the local Rotary Club every week for many years and the Women's Fellowship Christmas Bizare.
Mrs. Boyles worked as a registered nurse ansthetist for St. Luke's Hospital for four years following her service during World War II.
Survivors are her daughters, Lauren V. Boyles of Sylvania, Ohio and Diane V. Boyles of Stone Mountain, Ga.; sons, Jeffrey C. (Ginny) Jones of Blue Bell, Pa., Duffy (Peggy) Boyles of Portland, Ore. and Christopher (Danielle) Boyles of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and grandchild, Benjamin Jones.
Her husband, Walter Boyles, whom she married Aug. 25, 1950, in Claridon Township, died July 19, 1983. Her parents, Otto and Evangeline (Hare) Van Orsdale; and sister, Virginia Ruth Van Orsdale, are also deceased.
Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Henry Woodruff, Ph.D., of the Chardon United Methodist Church in Chardon, will officiate the services. A private family burial will be in East Claridon Cemetery, Claridon Township.
