She was born in New Suffolk Feb. 15, 1926, to Edward and Mary (Kreskowski) Victoria. She graduated from Southold High School and married Karol Sledjeski on Oct. 26, 1947, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue.
Ms. Sledjeski worked as a waitress for many local restaurants. She owned and operated the Shell Restaurant with her husband in Southold until 1972. She also owned Front Street Liquors in Greenport until her husband's death in 1980. She worked for the Board of Elections and also at Latham's farm stand.
She was an active member of the Orient Ladies Auxiliary, receiving her 50-year pin in a special ceremony at the funeral home. She was also active in Oysterponds Community Activities, where she was a board member until her death, and was a member of St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport.
Family members said she enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, playing cards and, in her younger years, dancing.
Also predeceased by four brothers and three sisters, Ms. Sledjeski is survived by her children, Linda Goldsmith of East Marion and Maryanne Charles of Massapequa; her sister, Helen Horton of Mattituck; her brother, John Victoria of New Suffolk; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Family received visitors Feb. 16 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport, where parish services were conducted that afternoon. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 17 at St. Agnes Church by Father Thomas Murray.
