Sister Gabriella Halbleib
CONCORDIA - Sister Gabriella Halbleib, 78, Concordia, died Thursday, March 22, 1990, at the Nazareth Convent, Concordia. Sister Gabriella was born May 3, 1911, in Brownell. She entered the Congregation of St. Joseph of Concordia on March 19, 1931. She made her lifetime vows in 1936. Sr. Gabriella She was a member of the music faculty at Marymount College, Salina. She began teaching at Marymount in 1939, and then a year later she entered DePaul University for advanced studies in music. She returned to Marymount where she headed the music department until 1969. She then joined the faculty of Albany State College, Georgia, as an instructor. She retired from teaching in 1973 and moved to Grand Island, Neb. She returned to the Salina Diocese and worked in Clyde and at the Manna House of Prayer. From 1981 until 1984 she served part time in the Salina Diocesan Office of Worship. She retired in 1984 and returned to the Nazareth Motherhouse in 1989.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Kreutzer of St. Louis.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nazareth Convent, the Revs. John Lahey and Roger Meitl officiating. Burial will be in the convent cemetery. A wake will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the convent.
