Marie Elizabeth Wagner, 79, of Zelienople, Pa., formerly of Wilkes-Barre and Harveys Lake, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Born on October 24, 1930, in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Marie (Dula) Balchun.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople who donated to numerous Catholic charities, as well as various Disabled Veterans organizations.
She graduated from Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre and was an avid bingo player who loved to play at the Harmony Moose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Talipan.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Ralph F. Wagner of Zelienople; a son, Robert F. Smith Sr., of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Rhea Marie (Wagner) Everett and son-in-law Dr. Ed Everett of Downingtown, Pa.; a brother, Edward J. Balchun, of Virginia; a grandson, Robert F. Smith Jr., a granddaughter, her namesake, Lexington Marie Elizabeth Everett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie's family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home, Zelienople, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, with the Fr. Robert M. Miller officiating.
Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1594 S. Main St., Hanover Township.
