Born 1838 Monroe County, New York. Enlisted 8th Illinois Cavalry, Company M. Contracted typhoid at Battle of Antietam. Sent to McClellan Army Hospital, Philadelphia, from which he was discharged from the Army October 14, 1864. He moved to Chester, PA, married Fannie Welser - whose father Benjamin B. welser had served in the 2nd PA Heavy Artilery at the Battle of Petersburg - and had a daughter Helen B. Waite, my grandmother.
