John M. Coleman, 80, of 423 Paxinosa Road, Forks Township, a retired Lafayette College history professor, died Sunday, Feb. 1, in Easton Hospital. He was the husband of Agnes (Agar) Coleman. They were married for 55 years last May.

Coleman retired in 1982 after 32 years at the college. He started as an instructor in 1950 and was named assistant professor in 1952, associate professor in 1958 and professor in 1976. He started his teaching career as a part-time preceptor at Princeton University in 1946.
