Van Elizabeth Walker was born to the late Johnnie & Ella Lue Vauhhn in Kilmichael, Mississippi on Aug. 26, 1946 where she was raised and educated.Van continued her schooling until she graduated from Montgomery County High School. During her youthful age Van was a regular psrticipant of Sunday School where she excelled tremendously. In addition, she was a member of the "Vaughn Sisters" gospel ensemble which included her three sisters: Ella, Ethel, and Mattie Vauhn. In 1964 she left home for New York with her sister Mattie."Ms. Liz"was a loving, devoted and very outspoken woman. She was adored in her community for her scrumptuous southern cooking. Her food was part of her ministry to connect with others. She was an active member in her home church:Morning Star Full Gospel Assembly, Bronx, New York.She had a thirst for the word of God;she faithfully attended Sunday School, and fellowshipped with the "Women on the Move", which dramatically impacted her walk with Christ.
Van Elizabeth Vaughn-Walker married the love of her life Rudolph V. Walker on March 3, 1983 and together they raised six children."Rudy"as he was known preceded her in death.
"Ms. Liz" leaves to mourn four surviving children Lendolyn Barton (Conrad), Denise Vaughn-Simms(Aaron), Marion D. Vaughn, & Wanda Maria Vaughn: three surviving siblings Ella L.Kilpatrick, Ethel L. Vaughn both of Bronx NY, and Jimmy (Cora)Vaughn of Orlando Florida:Fourteen grand-children: four great grand-children all of New York. Aunts, Uncles, and a host of neices, nephews, and friends.
