C. Emett Walsh, 81, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 9, 2012 at home. Born in Springfield, son of the late Cornelius and Mary (Reagan) Walsh, he lived in Springfield before moving to Agawam in 1971. Emett worked as a mail handler for the Bulk Mail Center for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, JFK Council 5585, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict serving aboard the USS Wisconsin and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Emett was a communicant and active member of St. John the Evangelist Church, where he served as an adult altar server for funerals, a Eucharistic Minister at church and at the local nursing homes, an usher and helped cooked for the local soup kitchens. He was also an avid artist and gardener. He leaves his wife of fifty-five years, Theresa M. "Terry" (Yacovone) Walsh, a son and his wife, Garry E. and Laura Walsh of Enfield, a sister, Eileen Baillargeon of Bloomfield, NJ formerly of Springfield, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John "Jack" Walsh, and two sisters, Margaret Piteo and Nora Walsh. The funeral will be Monday at 9am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10. The burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2-5pm.
