George was the youngest of two brothers born to Isaac Evald and Henna L. (Palo) Waltari. He died the day after V-E Day over the North sea during a mercy flight.

He married Margaret Fay Trunk in 1941. After his death she married his older brother, Arthur in 1955.

Pfc. George Waltari Dies In North Sea Plane Crash

Pfc. George Waltari, son-in-law of Mr. And Mrs. Frank Trunk, 209 South sixth, died when the plane he was in burned over the North Sea the day after victory was declared in Europe. The plane was returning from a mercy mission made over Holland, and the cause of the fire is unknown. Memorial services for Pfc. Waltari were held in Great Falls Sunday, June 24.

His wife, the former Margaret Trunk has been at the home of her parents for the past month, and returned to Washington D.C. July 1, accompanied by her mother. Mrs. Trunk plans to remain with her daughter for two months, and will also visit her son Joe, who is stationed at a submarine base in New London, Conn., and with her daughter, Alice Botterud, who is employed in Arlington, Va.
