She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Weir; sons, Donald and Raymond Peckham; seven grandchildren; five great-grandsons, and two brothers, Clifford Walter and Allen Walter.
Mrs. Peckham was a Girl Scout leader for Spanish Trails Troop and taught women to be Girl Scout leaders. She was also a Cub Scout den mother.
Vera was past president of Women's Society of El Monte Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years.
She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Vera was a "mother" to many international students. She taught English using the Laubach Literary system. She was also awarded the Americanism Medal of the California State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revoltion for teaching English to non-English speaking children and adults.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct 17 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Calif.
