RUTH IONA McELMEEL March 3, 1921 ~ May 25, 2008 Ruth was born in Allegheny County, PA. She graduated Cosmetology School and married George L. Brown in 1942. they moved to El Monte, CA in 1953 and she worked for Helms Bakeries. She remarried Ed McElmeel in 1965 and moved to La Puente, CA. She worked as a School Bus Driver for Hacienda Unified School District for 20 years. She moved to Sun Lakes in Banning, CA in 1999, and to The Lakes Assisted Care in 2004 where she received loving care. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ed McElmeel in Jan. 1979; her parents, Ida Mae Graham and Clifford E. Walter; and all ten of her siblings: Sally, Blanch, Leola, Mary, Clara, John, Jack, Bill, Roy, and George. Ruth is survived by her son, George (Sharon) Brown of Banning, CA; five step-children, Gregg (Tammy) McElmeel of WA, Kathy (George) Clegg of Utah, Lori (Mike) Brinningstaul of Michigan, Beverly (Gerry) Smith of Riverside, CA, and Ed (Marlene) McElmeel of Riverside, CA; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Etta-Mae of NV and Ruthie of PA and many other loving family members. Memorial Services were held May 30, 2008 at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. Memorial donations in Ruth's name may be sent to the Visiting Nurse Association of Inland Counties (Hospice Program).
