Marian Louise (Ward) Black, 87 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the Howard County General Hospital, Columbia, Maryland on Friday July 29, 2011 after a period of declining health. She was born at Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of the late Ernest and Nelle (Daugherty) Ward. She was the beloved wife of the late H. Richard Black. She is survived by her son, Michael Black, of Norfolk, Virginia and a grandson, Richard Black-Howell of Columbia, MD with whom she made her home in recent years. She also leaves two great-grandchildren Sonja and Malcolm Black-Howell of Columbia, Maryland. Marian was an active member of both Emmanuel Episcopal Parish in Braintree and Christ Church (Episcopal) in Quincy. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday, August 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to be followed by a Funeral Service in Christ Church, Quincy Center at 1:30 p.m. which will be followed by burial at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. The Reverend Thomas Mulvey rector of Emmanuel Parish will officiate. Memorial donations may be sent to Emmanuel Parish, 519 Washington St., Braintree, MA. 02184 or to Christ Church, 12 Quincy Avenue, Quincy, MA. 02169.
