Irene married Don Loyd Smith in Toledo, Lucas, Ohio on 12 Aug 1927. She gave birth to one child, Loyd Donald Smith. However, she was the only mother that her step-children (Helen and Howard Smith) knew and she raised them as her own.
She and her husband were long time residents of Leslie, Ingham, Michigan and was living there at the time of her death. She died in Mercy Hospital, Jackson, Michigan.
